2019 season close

Thank you to all our volunteers for a great Prayer Team season!  You give so much to attendees, cast and crew, and each other with your service and prayers.  You each bring something unique and vaulable to our team.  I pray for your physical and especially spiritual health, your family, and your ministries. Special thanks to those who showed up at the end of the season in the cold weather.

Things that worked this year:
- Texting prayer requests
- Table and sign at front with Spanish materials including book fo John and evangelist acts.
- Leaving tables set up and folding table cloths over them
- Passing out Lord's Supper cups in baskets in back instead of to every row.
- Advertising with new signs instead of stuffing playbills. Mount some signs on tent.
- Greet people as they come in and invite them to prayer tent
- Organize tables with signs for Bible study resources and prayer resources. Put table at front door with books of John and prayer resources.
- Be ready to baptize every show.
- Rudy sat down in chair aned praying for God to send someone to him for prayer, and He did!
- Heater!

Planned improvements for next year:
- Heater!
- Make new Spanish sign on metal that includes word "free". Get more Spanish resources.
- Emphasize up front to every tent visitor that all resources are all free.
- Make larger prayer request forms
- Do more of this:  Greet people as they come in and invite them to prayer tent
- Try to get a local Spanish church volunteer in prayer tent each show.

Cold!!!  Friday was 40s with strong wind.  We had a small attendance and 1 family visited the prayer tent.  All volunteers and others watched show from prayer tent. I used new Spanish sign and table.  Cast was really cold!

Sat was 8 degrees warmer than Fri with no wind. A much larger crowd too.  The truck was given away.

Planning for Nov 1-2

Cold!!  Fri show starts at 48 and ends at 44.  Sat show starts at 50 and ends at 42.  There is not much wind.  The cast party is at a Heritage Park 2-5pm near downtown Glen Rose on Hwy 144, and all should bring food to share.

Results of Oct 18-19 shows and planning for Oct 25-26 shows

Results of Oct 18-19

The weather was clear both nights and cool Friday and a little warmer Sat.  Really big crowds both nights and great activity in Prayer Tent.  We are also giving out lots of resources, including lots of Spanish Books of John on Saturday.  What I really want to do in future is have a small table toward front of tent with Spanish materials and a sign that says something like:
"Recursos en espanol"

If I can I will make a sign for this next weekend and try it.

Planning for Oct 25-26

Cooler weather: 40s - low 60s
No special themes are planned and normal gate opening times of 6:30pm

Results of Oct 5-6 and Plans for Oct 11-12

Results of Oct 4-5

Attendance was great both nights and we had great activity and prayers in the Prayer Tent.

Friday was alumni night and was great!  LOTS of Promise alumni crowded the Prayer Tent before the show, and again toward the end of the show when they were led to the stage to sing the last few songs.  When on stage each alumni was partnered with a cast member. It was a blessing for them to visit together, and also a blessing to the current cast and the audience to see them all on stage.  Big thanks to those volunteers who came early and helped clean up and set up the Prayer Tent and who helped host the alumni gathering.

Saturday was a normal night but exciting with the big crowd and prayers in the tent.

Plans for Oct 11-12

Cooler weather!  In fact pretty cold!  Friday and Saturday have gates opening normally at 6:30pm.  Sat is ASL Night.

Results of Sept 6-7 Weekend

It was HOT!  Over 10 degrees both nights.  The hot weather kept most visitors away so the shows had small attendance.   But our Prayer Tent experience really good.  Rudy was tired, sat in a chair, and prayed that God would bring someone to him to pray with.  God answered multiple times!  Rudy suggests we all pray this prayer for God to bring someone to us. We also had some really good visitors such a young veteran who got a hip injury in the war and has a Purple Heart and Bronze Star medal, a former Dallas firefighter for 39+ years, a mostly Spanish-speaking man who was seeing promise for first time and was so overly impressed that he wants to return and bring the rest of his extended family, and a few cast members with prayer requests.  Lots of visitors are taking resources (Books of John and Prayer Resources) from outside table.  It will just get better if we stay prayerful and with greater attendance!

New 2019 season started

This what this season looks like:
1.  Advertise baptisms to groups buying tickets and give Gary's email address.  Gary and Rudy will baptize after shows (Rudy will talk and Gary will dunk them).
2. We do not hand out Lord's Supper elements to each seat, but we have them in baskets before show and during act 1 and intermission.  Prayer team volunteers may assist with handing out cups, and with getting used cups from people after end of show.
3. We have new aluminum signs that are outdoor and very durable.
4. We have 4 "Text prayer request" signs that give a Google voice number to text to.  I get an email with the texts.  We have 2 signs on the prayer tent, 1 near gift shop, and 1 near the other walkway near the Jewish market.  I will try to advertise this texting number in other places such in concession stands, gift shop and with cast and crew.
5. We have small table at front of prayer tent with signs reading "Free Book of John" and "Free Prayer Resources". People who do not want to come into tent are happy to receive these free resources.
